END OF WEEK THREE

Another week has passed and I seem to be getting more exciting work assignments.
I started to think about typography for Rachel and it really got me enthusiastic to get going on this assignment. I cant wait to explore and experiment with type. However, I need to remember to manage my time well or else I wont have enough time on other projects, like Lee's., who set out a task of researching into 'This is not a Pipe' painting and creating a written essay.

SECOND TRIP

So, we went to Salford University to hear some lectures/talks about many different types of design. It was such an eye-opener to which areas of designs could potentially suit me or even inspire me that I haven't even thought about.
I admit some of the talks weren't as appealing to me personally but each one gave me pieces of information I didn't know about. So they were all useful in different ways.
Overall the talks gave me more enthusiasm to achieve and learn as much as those people did.

END OF WEEK TWO

Another week has gone by and so much has been covered yet again. I feel as though the first week was more of a welcoming and introduction into the course whereas the second week was when the work, paper print outs and deadlines started to appear. Once I got all of my paperwork printed out and piled up together, I think that was when I realised how much work is expected to put into this course. I wont deny that I got really nervous about it. I've never really been good at time keeping and organisation but I know at the end of the two year course I will be able to say I have definitely changed and improved.

DAY TWO - LIVERPOOL TATE GALLERY

Second day of the brand new course and we are already out, experiencing new things that surely inspired me if not all of my fellow class mates. We set off on our first trip of the course to Liverpool Tate Gallery where there were three artist's exhibitions (Turner, Monet and Twombly), which took only half an hour train ride. Even though I love paintings and art in general, I was quite negative towards spending so much time looking at one painting at a time. But now that I am reflecting back from the trip, I have realised that I haven't experienced an artist's painting truly before now. Usually I would have a quick glance at a painting and move on to the next one, however this trip taught me that you don't appreciate all the effort that has gone into those painting unless you look at every inch of the painting. It was also an eye-opener at how much art plays a big part in the design world.

FIRST DAY

I am going to be completely honest and confess that I was extremely nervous the morning of the first day. It was a mixture of feelings from excitement to a little bit of nausea. However, once I got into the studio and felt a sudden welcoming it wasn't so bad. First off we were set a task of making a paper aeroplane, which at first was fun whilst flying them, except we came to realise that Dave sneakily pre planned a secret way of pairing us all up for our next task. Waiting to find out who I was going to be paired with I started to panic, then finally my name and my now new friend Naomi was called as a pair. We also had a talk and a group discussion with Dave, talking about expectations as a student, the work mass amount, the driven enthusiasm we should naturally have and most importantly the commitment needed to be apart of this course and succeed. I can certainly say that this will be a challenge, but I challenge definitely worthwhile.
